Cracking the Common Law Admission Test, better known as CLAT, is the ultimate goal of many law aspirants in India. The centralized exam conducted for admission into the nation’s 22 topmost prestigious Law Colleges is taken by a quarter of a million students each year.
Conducted once annually for admission into various law-based graduation and post-graduation programs like BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, B.Sc. LLB, and LLM, CLAT is one of the most prestigious examinations in India. It is held as a comprehension-based examination. CLAT helps select students based on their knowledge of law and aptitude skills and a sound understanding of the legal framework.
CLAT 2021 schedule had to be postponed a few times due to the rising number of Covid cases. Initially scheduled to be held on June 13th, 2021, the Consortium of NLUs was only able to finalize the new dates based on the pandemic-caused situation in the country. The exam has been postponed thrice already, with the first scheduled date of May 9th, 2021. However, the central government finally announced that the CLAT 2021 would be held on July 23rd, 2021without further delay.
All About CLAT 2021
The new guidelines of CLAT 2021 have been modified to a certain extent to provide a better and far more flexible choice to the students planning to take the exam this year. One of the notable key changes of CLAT 2021 is the announcement by the NLSIU Bangalore. They have stated that they will introduce a 25% horizontal compartmentalized reservation exclusively for Karnataka domiciles who have studied in the state for more than 10 yrs.
CLAT 2021 is scheduled to be held in 84 cities all over the country this year. Due to the extreme restrictions in Interstate travel, the Center has increased the number of examination centres in the country. A government spokesperson has said that this will help students from far and near places to attend the exam much more comfortably.
Candidates are given a chance to change their choice of examination centres according to their preference until July 4th, 2021, 11:59 PM by selecting the option “Preferred test centre edit option.”
The online registration for CLAT 2021 had begun on January 1st, 2021. The final date of application submission was June 15th, 2021. However, the application fee payment for CLAT 2021 schedule was available offline until June 17th, 2021, 4 PM at various designated centres and Centralized bank branches.
CLAT 2021 Guidelines
CLAT 2021 Schedule had to undergo numerous changes due to the cases arising from the COVID 19. The examination pattern for 2021 had to be revised, and a few changes have been implemented. While the Post-Graduation Examination will include only MCQ questions, the undergraduates will still have to answer the subjective questions.
CLAT 2021 will be held in offline mode at the respective scheduled examination centres on July 23rd between 2 PM to 4 PM for both the undergraduate and postgraduate examinees. Students can check for all the relevant updates from the official portal of the CLAT.
All relevant details regarding registration, admit cards, guidelines, and patterns have been updated on the online portal for ease of access for the students. The CLAT answer keys will be released on July 24th, 2021, after 4 pm for the students. The provisional scores can also be accessed through the official portal on July 24th.
The CLAT 2021 schedule of the counselling and admission processes will be announced after careful consideration of the pandemic and the state-wise lockdowns implemented in the country.
